Glucerna?

Has anyone here tried the nutritional supplement or weight loss shakes with the brand name Glucerna? They're supposed to be manufactured especially for diabetics, but I found them awfully high in carbs and calories. When I wanted to lose weight, I did better with plain old SlimFast, or better yet, skipping the weight loss shakes and just eating small, sensible meals.

My grandma likes the bars but not the shakes. She says the shakes are grainy... I am not sure about being high in carbs, they were recommended to her buy her doctor.

I didn't mind the taste of the shakes--I actually thought they were better than most of the other weight loss shakes on the market. :)

I have mostly seen Glucerna used as an alternative to Ensure or Boost for the elderly or sick who are having trouble keeping up their calorie intake. I've never heard of it being used as a slimfast type product.

Well, there are two kinds of Glucerna. One is a nutritional supplement. The other is a weight loss shake. But the weight loss shake has 290 calories and 39 carbs. That's way high.

I have seen Glucerna in stores. It seems pretty expensive. My doctor gives me a medicince called Byetta. I take it like a shot. It is in place of insulin. It has been helping me lose weight.

Byetta is supposed to help to curb the appetite by causing the body to sustain itself. The downfall to Byetta is that it is pretty expensive too.

I was told Glucerna SR is good for a diabetic patient. I'd like to buy or order one for my mother to try. A sample pack or bottle would be great.
