Not all diabetics having a heart attack can feel chest pain (due to nerve damage in and around the heart).
Diabetics need to be aware of other symptoms of heart attack -- sweating, short of breath, dizzy, nausea, jaw pain, shoulder/arm pain (left), heart burn, indigestion.
Many, many diabetics who are having a heart attack have no chest pain.

My father has diabetes and a very bad heart, 98% diseased. He has had many heart attacks and open heart surgeries..
This advice you gave is 100% dead on!! He never had chest pains with the last heart attack and did not go to the ER right away when he was having symptoms like a heart attack but not like the rest of his heart attacks. Luckily his wife made him go eventually and he learned that now that his diabetes have gotten worse that his symptoms may not always be the same!

That's news to me, too. I knew that women often have atypical symptoms, but it never would have occurred to me that diabetics would have atypical symptoms as well. Because of my diabetes and my weight, my doctor insists that I check in with a cardiologist every couple of years for a stress test. It's a pain in the neck, but I think she's right.
