I work 4 days a week - go uni on a friday - do homework most nights - take on the occasional private job, and of course I want to see my friends and my man - I'm just a little worried that my mainly stationary lifestyle is becoming detrimental to my health - any tips on starting to get fit ?

Just like everything else in life you have to make time. :)

I combine fitness with commuting to work. Walking lots (I mean a few miles a day) is usually adequate exercise to keep fits. What about using a bike to go to work?

I would say that would help. Any increase in activities is a step in the right direction.

My schedule is very busy also try getting up an hour earlier and go for a walk or run before starting your day or exercise during lunch. You need to set aside atleast an 30mins a day to you for your health.

Eat healthy.

Sleep a good amount of hours.

If you can't find time to go to the Gym. Stay at home for 30minutes, bend, stretch, sit ups, push ups, run on the spot, etc.

There are alot of ways to stay fit in the such little time.

Just Do It.

Get a video (or DVD). I like pilates, but there are all kinds of workouts out there.

If you don't have much time to exercise, just walk as much as you can everyday. Try to make less use of your car.
Remember: since you're busy, you are going around, and that's a kind of exercise too.
When you're at home, before bedtime, make some streching exercises, going-up-and-down for at least 5 -10 minutes, just to make all your body muscles and joints in movement.
If you work too many hours in front a computer, just draw your own schedule to stand up and stretch and move your body.
